Meet Dr. Kathleen Barto

Dr. Katie Barto grew up west of Chicago in Melrose Park. She attended Trinity High School and later played volleyball at Eastern Illinois University where she studied chemistry and history. She then returned to Chicago to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where she was Vice President of her class. While in dental school, Dr. Barto participated in rotations with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and Illinois Masonic Hospital. Prior to receiving her degree, Dr. Barto completed an externship with Crusader Clinic in Rockford, IL. She has been working in private practice since 2005 and has lived in Lemont since 2009. Dr. Barto was also an adjunct faculty member at the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove. Being involved in dental education has allowed Dr. Barto to stay on top of new developments and technology as well as to provide every patient with current evidence-based dentistry. 

Over the years, Dr. Barto has had the pleasure of being involved in many volunteer activities. She has worked with the Indian Health Service in Montana, the 1000 Smiles Program in Jamaica, and TeamSmile with the Chicago Bears. She has also been lucky to be involved in a mobile dental school program helping underprivileged children receive sealants, fluoride, and cleanings. Dr. Barto enjoys treating both adults and children and is very focused on prevention and patient education. She has attended many continuing education classes, from pediatric dentistry to dental implants to veneers, and is very excited to share her knowledge.   

During her free time, Dr. Barto enjoys exploring fun family activities throughout the Chicagoland area with her husband and four children.
